Spring Term Ready Steady Write

Just before Easter, Broadhembury took part in a Ready Steady Write day to enhance their cross-curricular writing skills. The children learnt the rhyme, originally a street cry from the 1700s, then discovered the representation of the Easter story in hot cross buns themselves.

KS1 used the rhyme as inspiration to write their own songs using notation and played the tune on their recorders.

KS2 then created their own playground games based on the rhyme, they worked in groups to come up with ideas and create rules. Later, the children played the games they had created and wrote a list of step by step instructions on how to play.

The children rounded off the day by enjoying some hot cross buns in the sunshine, made by the reception children.
