Number Day

Reception started off the day investigating patterns and pictures that they could make with the Numicon.  They created some amazing pictures.
KS1 found out how their heart beats in a steady rhythm and counted the number of beats in a minute.  Then they began to think about what else they could do in a minute and found different ways of recording this such as tallying, numberlines, ten frames and so on.
In the afternoon, the children learnt about the Italian mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci.  They investigated the Fibonacci number sequence in nature and recreated it using loose parts such as shells and buttons.

KS1 used it to create their own artwork.
