Visit to the Fire Station

Fire Station Visit
In class one we have been working really hard on our topic 'The Fire of London', this involved planning and making our pudding lane Tudor houses out of materials collected by the children. At the end of November we all went to the local fire station to re-create the scene we have been learning about, the children learnt about how the fire would have spread and had the opportunity to ask the firefighters many questions about their important job.

The children also did some diary writing in which they have become a character in 1666 who experienced life in Pudding Lane on the day that the Great Fire began.  The children used adjectives to make their writing more interesting and descriptive, as well as using some of the facts that they had learnt about how the fire began and what caused it to spread so quickly.
